The paint grade bookcases were built and installed some 20 years after the first stained ones were commissioned. It was a surprise to have a client locate us so long after the initial work was done… twenty-plus years and three shops later!

After considering a finish to match the original built-ins, the clients decided on an off-white paint to lighten the feel of the room. The counter under the window held a stone inset that matched the original built-in’s counter top.
The Original Built-in
The first built-in alder cases, completed twenty-three years earlier, featured a fossil stone-counter top, raised panel doors and an antiqued finish.
